ICE ARRESTS BY SEATTLE FIELD OFFICE
In March 2026, I collaborated with reporters to visualize a newly obtained FOIA dataset on Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests by Seattle Field Office—a local office responsible for ICE arrests and detentions in Oregon, Washington, and Alaska.
Through additional analysis and visualization, I helped uncover patterns that had not yet surfaced in the initial reporting. Among the most striking findings was the disproportionately high rate of arrests per capita in Yakima County in 2025. The data also revealed notable spikes in arrests late in the year around Seattle, Yakima, and in Portland’s “Operation Black Rose.” There was also a surprisingly high number of arrests involving adults with U.S. citizen children in November and December of 2025.
My work focused on translating these insights into clear, accessible visual narratives that expanded the scope of the story and deepened its geographic and human context.
